My little but amazing family!

Eeek! A whole page about ME!!! 

Okay, so it won’t be a WHOLE page (I don’t really think you want to know THAT much about me!) but a page of sorts. My name is Annemarie. Most people don’t call me that but that’s what it says on the ol’ birth certificate. I am a wife, a mother, a sister...a photographer. I am also adopted and have about 5 pictures to tell my childhood story. This was probably the first thing in my life that set me on the path I am on today. Even if I didn’t know it at the time.

I bought my first camera when I was 10 and I’ve been taking pictures ever since. I took pictures of anyone and everyone but it was only ever just for myself and just for fun. It took a couple of big events in my life to really change how I looked at photography. The first was the birth of my son. Thank goodness we were digital by then because I could NEVER have afforded the film! The second was the death of my father, I realized after he died that the last pictures I had of him was 5 years earlier at my wedding. He hated having his picture taken and unfortunately I never wanted to make him "uncomfortable" by doing that...today I wish I had made him "uncomfortable" just a couple more times. I miss my dad terribly everyday but from his death came the realization of just how important photos were to me and my family. I also felt like I could use my experience to share the importance of capturing a family’s memory while you still can.

So my mission today is -

1. Encourage people to have their photos taken.*

2. Make is as comfortable as humanly possible to have that done.

3. Give people images that make them SING or at least ones they will really enjoy if they're not big singers!

*This includes parents!!

As much as we may not want to have our pictures taken, myself included...these pictures aren’t always just for us. They are for our children, our friends, our family, the people around us that love us for who we are no matter what! To me, pictures tell a story, they have meaning and hold memories. I guess I am lucky to have the few childhood pictures I do but I want more! I want to remember what it was like to be a child by looking at my pictures. Obviously that is something I can’t change but I can help change it for my own family and for the families that welcome me, even for just a few hours into their lives to capture their special moments. Whew! Let’s move on to something else!!

I love to bake but hate to eat it.
I love sweets and not so much salty.
I love movies and hate to cry but love movies that make me cry.
I love books but never have enough time to read.
My favourite colour is pink but I own almost nothing that is pink.
I’m shy until you get to know me and then you can’t shut me up.
When I’m really mad I can swear like a trucker but I am not really mad I don’t drive a truck.
I love photos but hate to be in them!
